Our Mission

Optherion’s Mission is to transform the lives of people with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and other diseases involving the alternative complement pathway. Our aim is to change the course of disease through the parallel development of our therapeutic and diagnostic platforms.

Our therapeutics are based upon a strong underpinning of genetic and biological discoveries. They prevent vision loss in those with early stage (‘dry’) AMD and end stage renal disease in patients with dense deposit disease (DDD) or atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS).

Our diagnostics consist of a genetic and biomarker platform that enable the detection of risk for AMD, and predict the progression of disease and treatment outcome in patients diagnosed with AMD.
